The battery icon says 14%, there’s no low-battery warning, and the screen simply goes dark. That sudden shutdown is the Redmi Note 14 Pro problem Xiaomi itself has had to admit to in its weekly HyperOS bug reports. Owners also report battery drain, a laggy camera, heat, dropped mobile data and, after HyperOS 3, a black screen on some repaired phones.

Because Xiaomi publishes those bug reports, many of these can be pinned to a specific build. That makes the fixes more concrete than usual.

Find your exact model and HyperOS build

Two phones carry this name. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra, a 5,110mAh battery on the global model and 45W charging. According to GSMArena, it launched in January 2025 with Android 14 and HyperOS, with up to three major OS updates promised. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G uses a MediaTek Helio chip and different network bands.

Open Settings › About phone for the model and HyperOS version. Write the version string down, because Xiaomi’s reports name builds such as OS3.0.3.0.WOFMIXM, and the letters show the region (MI means global). On a used or imported phone, an IMEI check confirms the real model and region.

It switches off with 10% or more left

Xiaomi’s late-December 2025 bug report, which Rutab and other outlets covered, tied this to a battery calibration mismatch on two HyperOS 3 builds: 3.0.4.0.WOGMIXM on the Redmi Note 14 and 3.0.3.0.WOFMIXM on the Note 14 Pro. The phone thinks it has more charge than it really does, then runs out. A later weekly report listed a fix for “automatic shutdown” on the Note 14 Pro, but some owners still saw it now and then.

  1. Update HyperOS from Settings › About phone › HyperOS version.
  2. Recalibrate, which is Xiaomi’s suggested workaround: let the phone run down until it switches off, then charge it to 100% without unplugging.
  3. Use the original 45W charger or a good PD charger, not a cheap one.
  4. Still shutting down on the latest build? Ask a Xiaomi service centre for a battery test.

Black screen after HyperOS 3, on phones with a replaced display

Teltarif reported in March 2026 that some Redmi Note 14 owners got a black screen after unlocking once they had installed HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. Xiaomi’s logs reportedly showed that most of the affected phones had a non-original replacement display, which HyperOS 3’s stricter display driver couldn’t handle. Xiaomi was testing a patch, with no guarantee it would work.

If a third-party shop has replaced your screen, hold off on major updates until Xiaomi confirms a fix. If it has already happened, go to an official Xiaomi service centre.

Battery drain without the shutdown bug

Most ordinary drain comes from apps running in the background, and HyperOS gives you a lot of control over them.

  • Tap the usage graph in Settings › Battery to see what each app uses.
  • For apps you don’t need notifications from, go to Settings › Apps › Manage apps › [app] › Battery saver and pick Restrict background activity.
  • Switch off Autostart for rarely used apps, in the same app page.
  • Turn off Always-on display in Settings › Always-on display & Lock screen, or have it show for 10 seconds after a tap.
  • On heavy days, set 60Hz in Settings › Display & brightness › Refresh rate.
  • Where signal is weak, turn off 5G under Settings › Mobile networks › [SIM] › Preferred network type.

Slow camera and a warm phone

Camera complaints are a slow shutter, a laggy viewfinder and delays opening the gallery. Xiaomi’s weekly reports have listed camera lag fixes for other phones in the same family, which suggests it’s often software. Update the camera app with the system (Settings › Apps › Manage apps › Camera › Updates, where offered). If that doesn’t help, clear its data under Settings › Apps › Manage apps › Camera › Storage › Clear data, which only resets camera settings. Keep 10–15% of storage free, since processing slows down when it’s full. Turning off AI scene detection or high-resolution mode makes shots quicker, and a restart helps if the camera has been open for a long time.

Some warmth during games, long recordings or fast charging is normal. Don’t game on the charger, take off thick cases for long sessions, and use 4G where 5G is weak, because hunting for signal heats the modem. Lower the game’s graphics too. HuaweiCentral reported that one HyperOS 3.0 weekly bug report flagged a gaming glitch on several Xiaomi devices, so install updates when they come.

“No service” or mobile data that keeps dropping

  1. Turn on Airplane mode for 30 seconds.
  2. Take out the SIM, put it back, and try the other slot.
  3. Set Preferred network type to 4G to see whether 5G is the trigger.
  4. Reset in Settings › Connection & sharing › Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks and Bluetooth.
  5. Check the APN settings with your carrier.

No IMEI showing, or “No service” with every SIM you try, can mean the IMEI is blocked or the phone is a regional model without your carrier’s bands. Dial *#06# and run a check.

Updating without getting burned

Xiaomi fixes bugs every week, and new HyperOS 3.0 updates have cleared UI and stability bugs on many global devices, so updating is usually the right move. But Giga reported in March 2026 that one Xiaomi update caused problems for owners. A bit of caution helps:

  • Wait a few days after an update appears, and look on the Xiaomi Community forum for complaints.
  • Back up to Xiaomi Cloud or your Google account.
  • Charge to at least 50% first.
  • Keep beta builds off the phone you rely on.

Recovery mode (hold power and volume up with the phone off) has Wipe Data, but the old “wipe cache” option isn’t on every model. A factory reset is the last resort.

Taking it to a Xiaomi service centre

No update will fix these. Go to an authorised Xiaomi service centre if:

  • It still shuts down early after a factory reset on the latest HyperOS build.
  • The back or screen is lifting. That can mean a swollen battery, so stop charging it.
  • It gets hot at idle after a reset, with no apps installed.
  • The camera shows a black viewfinder, rattles, or won’t focus in any camera app.
  • It says “No service” with several SIMs from different carriers.

Warranty depends on where the phone was sold, and an imported or grey-market unit may not be covered in your country. A third-party screen or battery can affect what the centre will repair, so mention any earlier repairs. Bring the receipt and back up first.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Redmi Note 14 Pro turn off at 10% battery?

Xiaomi linked early shutdowns to a battery calibration bug on build 3.0.3.0.WOFMIXM. Update HyperOS, and as a stopgap drain the phone fully and charge it to 100% in one go.

How do I stop battery drain on the Redmi Note 14 Pro?

Restrict background activity for apps you rarely use, turn off Autostart, lower the refresh rate and switch off 5G where signal is weak.

Why is my Redmi Note 14 screen black after the HyperOS 3 update?

Reports link it to non-original replacement displays clashing with HyperOS 3’s display driver. An official Xiaomi service centre can help.

Is it safe to update my Redmi Note 14 Pro?

Generally, yes. Back up first, wait a few days to see if complaints appear, and avoid beta builds.
