iCloud Check — Find My iPhone ON or OFF?
Check an iPhone, iPad or Mac by IMEI or serial — your first check is free (All-in-one Basic Info). Full iCloud reports show whether Find My (Activation Lock) is ON or OFF and whether the device is clean or lost. If Find My is ON, the device is still linked to the previous owner’s Apple ID — after a reset it asks for their password and cannot be used.

What is iCloud Activation Lock?
Activation Lock is part of Apple’s Find My. When it is on, the iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch is tied to the owner’s Apple ID. Erasing the device does not remove it: the setup screen will ask for the original Apple ID and password. It exists to make stolen Apple devices useless — which is why you must check it before buying.
How to check iCloud status by IMEI
- Get the IMEI: dial *#06# or open Settings › General › About.
- Enter it in the checker above (your first check is free), or pick a Find My report below.
- Read the result: Find My ON or OFF. For a Wi-Fi iPad or a Mac, use the serial number with the full report below.
How to check iCloud by serial number
- Find the serial: Settings › General › About › Serial Number on iPhone/iPad, or Apple menu › About This Mac on a Mac.
- Type the serial (10 or 12 characters, letters and digits) into the checker above — the free check accepts serials as well as IMEIs.
- For a MacBook, iMac or Wi-Fi iPad the serial is the only identifier — use the Mac Find My (FMI) or iCloud Clean/Lost report below.
- Serials never contain the letters O or I — if you see them, it is a 0 or a 1.
How to read the result
- Find My: OFF — the device is free of the previous owner’s iCloud. Safe to set up.
- Find My: ON — ask the seller to sign out of iCloud (Settings › [name] › Sign Out) in front of you, then check again.
- iCloud status Clean — Find My is on but the device is not reported lost.
- iCloud status Lost — the owner put it in Lost Mode. Walk away.
- “Bypassed” iPhones — work until an update or reset, then relock. A check shows the truth.
Why check iCloud before buying a used iPhone or iPad?
An iCloud-locked iPhone is worth only its parts. Sellers sometimes show a phone that is signed in and working, or “bypassed”, and it relocks later. An iCloud check takes seconds and tells you if the phone will ever be yours.

Frequently asked questions
Is this iCloud check free?
Your first check is free (All-in-one Basic Info, no sign-up). Dedicated Find My / iCloud reports and Mac serial checks are paid and start from a few cents.
Can I check iCloud with a serial number?
Yes — the free check and the full reports accept an IMEI or a serial number. Serial is the only option for a MacBook or Wi-Fi iPad.
Is an iCloud check by IMEI different from one by serial?
No — both identify the same device in Apple’s records, so the Find My result is the same. Use whichever you have; the IMEI is easier to get on an iPhone (*#06#).
Can iCloud be removed if Find My is ON?
Only the owner can remove it by signing out, or Apple with the original proof of purchase. “Bypass” tricks do not remove the lock.
What does iCloud Lost mean?
The owner marked the device as lost in Find My. It cannot be used and may be stolen — do not buy it.
Does the check alert the owner?
No. The check only reads the status; nothing is sent to the device or the owner.
How do I check a MacBook?
Use its serial number (Apple menu › About This Mac) with the Mac Find My (FMI) check below.
