vivo X300 Pro Problems: Battery Drain, Heat, Network Fixes
vivo X300 Pro problems: battery drain, overheating and network drops after the June trial update, the rollback, camera quirks and the fixes to try first.

Build 23.1, then build 23.3. Those two June 2026 trial updates are behind most of the vivo X300 Pro problems owners in India have reported this year: battery drain, more heat than before, and mobile connections that wouldn’t stay up. vivo pulled the updates. Some phones were already stuck with them.
The rest of the complaints are smaller and come from reviews: throttling under sustained load, a few camera quirks, slow GPS lock and speakers that sound thin when turned up. Start by finding out which build you’re on, because that decides what to do next.
The June trial builds and the rollback
According to The Tech Outlook (10 July 2026), vivo pushed June trial updates to the X300 and X300 Pro in India. Owners who installed build 23.1, and later 23.3, reported battery drain, worse heating and unstable network connections.
After users complained, vivo rolled the trial updates back. Phones that hadn’t installed them stayed on the May 2026 security patch while they waited for a stable build with the June patch. One owner said a vivo service centre moved his phone down to build 22.1, which fixed most of his problems apart from battery life.
| Build | What owners reported | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 22.1 | Most issues gone after a service-centre downgrade; battery still weaker for one owner | Install the next stable update when offered |
| 23.1 (June trial) | Drain, heat, network drops | Install a newer stable build, or visit a service centre |
| 23.3 (June trial) | Same complaints | Same as above |
Check yours under Settings › System update (or About phone). A “trial” build is much closer to a beta than to a finished release, and for phones caught by these ones, the cure is usually the next stable build or a service centre, not a settings tweak.
Battery draining faster than it used to
The signs are a battery that falls noticeably quicker than before, drain overnight, or a phone that’s warm in your pocket. Even before the update trouble, Notebookcheck called battery life solid but not outstanding for such a big battery. Heavy 4K or 8K recording will always empty it fast.
- If you’re on a trial build, look for a newer stable release and install it.
- Restart to clear stuck background processes.
- Open Settings › Battery, check per-app use, and update or uninstall anything that looks wrong.
- In each app’s battery settings, restrict background activity for apps you don’t need notifications from.
- Lower the refresh rate, or turn off always-on display, on heavy days.
- After an update, give it two or three days of normal charging while the system finishes optimising.
- If the drain started with a trial build and is still there after stable updates, take it to a service centre and ask them to check the build and test the battery.
Heat, throttling and slow GPS
Notebookcheck’s review found performance drops noticeably under sustained load, because the chip throttles to keep heat down. That’s by design. Combined with the June builds, though, some owners found the phone getting hot in normal use.
Don’t game, record long videos or navigate while it’s charging. Take a thick case off for heavy sessions and turn game graphics and frame rate down. Close the camera when you’re done with it, since long 8K or high-frame-rate recording is very demanding. If it’s hot at idle on a stable build, even after a restart, back it up and have vivo look at it.
Reviewers also noticed slow GNSS lock. Keep the system updated and location set to high accuracy for quicker GPS fixes.
Calls dropping and “No service”
Network instability was one of the biggest complaints about the trial builds. For dropped calls, mobile data cutting out, or “No service”:
- Turn on Airplane mode for 30 seconds.
- Take the SIM out and reinsert it, or try the other slot. With eSIM, check the profile is enabled.
- Set the preferred network type to 4G to see whether 5G handovers are the trigger.
- Reset network settings (Settings › System › Reset › Reset network settings, or similar on your build). Saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings are erased.
- Confirm your carrier’s APN is correct.
- Install the latest stable update as soon as it’s offered.
If it happens with several SIMs, a used or imported phone may not support all your carrier’s bands, or its IMEI may be blocked. Dial *#06# and check it.
Camera lag and other small annoyances
Notebookcheck called the X300 Pro a “camera ace with minor weaknesses”, and the camera isn’t where most owners have trouble. The complaints that do come up:
- Slow launch or lag: free up storage and clear the camera app’s cache.
- Heat warnings in long recordings: shoot shorter clips and keep out of direct sun.
- Odd processing on some scenes: try switching off the AI enhancement modes.
- Thin, tinny sound at high volume: that’s how the speakers are. Turn it down a notch, use the EQ, or use headphones.
Staying on safe updates from here
Outside China the X300 series runs OriginOS too, and vivo promises long support. Notebookcheck lists seven years of security patches and five years of major Android updates for the European model. To avoid another June:
- Stay out of trial and beta programmes on the phone you use every day.
- Wait a few days after a stable update appears and check the vivo community forums.
- Back up first. Our backup article has the same steps you need here.
- Charge to 50% or more and install over Wi-Fi.
The successor X500 series launched in China on 21 September 2026. According to 91mobiles, vivo’s European launch is set for 27 October, with sales from 5 November, which may push used X300 Pro prices down. How the new chips compare is in our Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 vs Dimensity 9600 comparison.
When a vivo service centre should take over
- Heat or drain carry on after a factory reset on the latest stable build, with no apps restored.
- The phone is stuck on a trial build and no stable update is offered. The centre can check the build and move it to an official release, as one owner’s centre did with 22.1.
- Battery capacity has clearly dropped, or the back panel looks raised, which can mean a swollen cell.
- No signal with any SIM, even after a network reset.
- Camera hardware faults: a black lens, a rattling module, or focus that fails in every camera app.
Back up your photos and data, write down your build number and security patch level, and bring proof of purchase. Warranty depends on the country of sale, so a phone imported from another market may not be covered locally. If you bought it through a carrier or retailer, they may arrange the repair.
If you’d rather just reset it yourself, go to Settings › System › Reset and erase all data. Sign out of your vivo and Google accounts first if you plan to sell it afterwards.
Checking a used X300 Pro
- Look at the software build, and install any waiting stable update before you decide.
- Use the camera and record video for at least 30 minutes and watch the battery and temperature.
- Run a manufacturer and model check to confirm the exact variant and region.
- Check GSMA blacklist status so you don’t end up with a phone reported lost or stolen.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my vivo X300 Pro battery draining after the update?
June 2026 trial builds 23.1 and 23.3 in India caused drain, heat and network trouble. Install the latest stable build, and see a vivo service centre if the drain carries on.
Did vivo roll back the X300 Pro update?
Yes. According to The Tech Outlook, vivo rolled back the June trial updates around 10 July 2026, leaving phones on the May patch until a stable build arrived.
Can I downgrade my vivo X300 Pro myself?
It isn’t a good idea. One owner had a service centre take his phone to build 22.1; flashing unofficial firmware yourself can brick it.
Why does my vivo X300 Pro get hot?
The chip throttles under sustained load, and the trial builds made heat worse. Avoid heavy use while charging and keep the software updated.
What is replacing the vivo X300 Pro?
The vivo X500 series, which launched in China in September 2026, with a European launch set for 27 October 2026.
