Put a white page on your Galaxy S26 Ultra next to a sheet of printer paper. If the screen looks faintly pink, you’re not imagining it, and you’re not alone. Screen complaints lead the list of Galaxy S26 Ultra problems this year: a red or pink cast that builds up over months, and eye strain that some owners blame on the new Privacy Display. Behind those come wireless charging that never gets near 25W, a One UI 9 setup screen that won’t finish, and Android Auto dropping out.

Settings paths here are from an S26 Ultra on One UI 9. Not sure which chip your unit has? Our Galaxy S26 Ultra chip and Knox guide explains the model differences.

The red or pink tint that creeps in

Since March 2026 some owners have watched their display drift warm, so whites no longer look neutral the way they did out of the box. Android Authority reported on 14 July 2026 that many describe it arriving gradually over months, and that Samsung told the Korean outlet Newsway it was “examining the matter internally to confirm the cause.” At the time of writing Samsung hadn’t published an explanation. Some users think it’s a form of burn-in or panel ageing. Nobody has confirmed that.

You can’t fix a hardware colour shift in settings, but you can rule out the settings that mimic it and build a record for a claim:

  1. Settings › Display › Screen mode: switch to Natural and see whether whites come back to neutral. In Vivid, slide White balance towards Cool to cancel out a warm cast.
  2. Turn off Eye comfort shield and Extra dim. Both warm the picture on purpose.
  3. Every few weeks, open a plain white image full screen and photograph it beside another phone or a sheet of white paper, in the same light.
  4. Run the screen test in Samsung Members (Diagnostics), then send a report from Samsung Members › Get help › Error reports.
  5. Once the tint is obvious, book a repair. Colour shift inside the first year is a normal warranty case, and our Samsung IMEI warranty check guide shows how to confirm your dates.

Headaches and soft text with Privacy Display

Privacy Display narrows the viewing angle so the person next to you on the train can’t read your messages. It’s the phone’s headline feature, and according to Tom’s Guide and Tech Advisor, also its most complained-about one. In March 2026 some owners described headaches, eye strain and mild nausea. Others said text looked fuzzy, or the screen looked dimmer, even with privacy mode switched off. Some reports linked the softness to changes in sub-pixel rendering. Samsung disputes that the feature causes eyesight problems.

Give it a fair test before deciding:

  1. Switch Privacy Display off in Quick Settings and use the phone that way for several days.
  2. Turn off Adaptive brightness for a while and set brightness by hand, a notch higher than usual. Some people are more sensitive to OLED flicker at low brightness.
  3. In Settings › Display, try Eye comfort shield. If text looks soft, raise the font size or Screen zoom in Settings › Display › Font size and style.
  4. Install the latest update (Settings › Software update › Download and install). Samsung has been adjusting display behaviour in its monthly patches.

If you really can’t use it comfortably, the return window is your simplest way out. Tech Advisor reported that in March a Samsung support agent offered one buyer $250 to keep the phone rather than return it, and that the offer was later pulled. So don’t plan on compensation.

Wireless charging stuck around 15W

The spec sheet says up to 25W wireless. Few owners ever see it. According to Tech Advisor, Samsung says you need three things at once: its own magnetic wireless charger, a 45W travel adapter and an official Samsung magnetic case. Dbrand tested Samsung’s Silicone, Clear, Rugged and Slim Magnet cases and none went past 15W. Some third-party cases are slower still. The S26 Ultra also isn’t Qi2 certified, so Qi2 chargers drop back to lower speeds.

  • Check Fast wireless charging is on in Settings › Battery › Charging settings.
  • Pair the Samsung magnetic charger with a 45W USB-C PD adapter.
  • Try it with no case at all to find your real ceiling.
  • Take out any metal ring, card or magnet sitting between phone and pad.

When you actually need speed, plug in. Wired Super Fast Charging with a Samsung-compatible USB-C PD adapter wastes less energy as heat than any wireless pad, and the phone stays cooler.

One UI 9 setup won’t finish on a new phone

After One UI 9 (Android 17) arrived, some brand-new S26 Ultras got stuck partway through setup. Cybernews reported that Samsung said on its Korean community forum that its developers had confirmed the problem “occurs when using an unstable system WebView on certain networks.” Samsung’s suggested route out:

  1. Move from mobile data to a stable Wi-Fi network for setup.
  2. Sign in to a Samsung account when asked.
  3. As soon as the Play Store opens, update Android System WebView and Chrome.
  4. Restart, then finish any skipped steps from Settings.

Leave a factory reset until nothing else has worked, and back up first if you get there. The order Samsung is updating phones in, and the bugs found so far, are in our One UI 9 rollout tracker.

Android Auto won’t connect in the car

This one has been reported on Google Pixel phones as well as the S26 Ultra, which points at the app or Android rather than Samsung hardware.

  1. Update Android Auto, Google Play services and Google Maps.
  2. Use a short USB-C cable that carries data. Plenty of cables only charge, and Android Auto won’t start over them.
  3. In Settings › Connected devices › Android Auto, remove the car from Previously connected cars and connect again.
  4. Forget the car in Bluetooth settings and re-pair.
  5. Clear the app cache: Settings › Apps › Android Auto › Storage › Clear cache.

Buying one second-hand

Used S26 Ultras are already everywhere, including units sent back during the display row. Before you pay:

  • Run a Samsung Info report for the exact model, region and warranty dates, and to confirm the IMEI matches the box.
  • Check the IMEI against the GSMA blacklist for lost or stolen reports.
  • Put a white screen and then a grey screen up at full brightness. Look for tint, burn-in and lines.
  • Try wireless charging, and make sure the seller has signed out of their Samsung and Google accounts.

Making a warranty claim for tint, burn-in or charging faults

A tint that keeps getting worse, burn-in on a phone less than a year old, lines across the display, or a charging fault that follows the phone from charger to charger: all hardware. To give your claim the best chance:

  1. Back up with Smart Switch or Samsung Cloud.
  2. Dial *#06# and write down the IMEI.
  3. Gather your dated photos of the white screen and any Samsung Members error report numbers.
  4. Book through Samsung Members, a Samsung service centre or your carrier, and hand the photos over at the counter.

Dated photos are harder to wave away as “normal for OLED” than a description.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Galaxy S26 Ultra screen turning red or pink?

Some owners report a tint that builds up over months, and Samsung told Newsway it was examining the cause. Try Natural screen mode, photograph the tint over time and claim warranty if it’s visible.

Does Privacy Display cause eye strain?

Some owners report headaches, eye strain or fuzzy text, but Samsung disputes that it causes eyesight problems. Turn it off for a few days and see if anything changes.

Why won’t my S26 Ultra wireless charge at 25W?

Samsung says 25W needs its magnetic wireless charger, a 45W adapter and an official magnetic case. Dbrand found Samsung’s own magnetic cases topped out at about 15W.

Is the Galaxy S26 Ultra Qi2 certified?

No. Tech Advisor reports it skips Qi2 certification, so Qi2 chargers run slower.

How do I fix setup stuck after One UI 9?

Samsung linked it to an unstable Android System WebView on some networks. Use Wi-Fi, sign in to a Samsung account and update Android System WebView.
