Half an hour into a heavy game, the vivo V60 puts up a prompt suggesting you take a break. That message, and the warm frame that comes with it, is the vivo V60 problem owners ask about most. After that come an ultrawide camera that disappoints after dark and software that arrives full of preloaded apps.

The V60 sells well in India and Southeast Asia because it’s slim, has a big battery and takes good photos with its main and telephoto cameras. Most of the complaints below are trade-offs of that design rather than defects. Where one points to a fault, we say so.

The hardware behind the complaints

According to reviews from GSMArena and Outlook Business:

Partvivo V60
ChipQualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm)
Battery6,500mAh, 90W wired charging (the charger may not be in the box in every region)
Display6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED, 120Hz
Cameras50MP main with OIS, 50MP 3x telephoto with OIS, 8MP ultrawide, 50MP selfie
SoftwareShipped with Funtouch OS 15 on Android 15; up to four major Android upgrades promised
Launch price in IndiaFrom Rs 36,999

In India, vivo put the V60 in the early wave of its OriginOS 6 (Android 16) rollout, which started in November 2025 and replaced Funtouch OS on eligible phones. Some menu names below depend on which of the two your phone runs. The successor, the vivo V80, launched in India on 6 October 2026 with OriginOS 7, so the V60 is turning into a common second-hand buy.

Warm frame and the “take a break” prompt

The frame and camera area warm up after 20–30 minutes of a demanding game or a long 4K recording. Outlook Business noted “some heating” in a demanding game and during long video recording, and said the phone nudges you to pause after sustained heavy use.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a capable mid-range chip, but this is a slim, camera-first phone, not a gaming phone. Under long, heavy loads it has little room to shed heat, so the system warns you and may cut brightness or performance.

  1. Close the game and let the phone cool for 10 minutes. Not in the fridge, and not in front of an AC vent.
  2. Drop in-game graphics and frame rate by one step. High frame rates make the most heat.
  3. Take a thick case off while gaming, and don’t play while fast charging. Charging adds heat of its own.
  4. Use the balanced performance setting, not a “high performance” mode. Look under Settings › Battery; the exact names differ between Funtouch OS 15 and OriginOS 6.
  5. Check Settings › Battery for an app using lots of power in the background. A stuck app can heat the phone even when you’re not using it.
  6. Install the latest software from Settings › System update. vivo regularly adjusts thermal behaviour in updates.

Hot while idle, during simple tasks or with the screen off, or shutting down from heat, is a different story. That pattern points to a battery or board fault. Back it up and take it to a vivo service centre.

Flat ultrawide shots and soft Night mode

Reviewers like the main and 3x telephoto cameras. Outlook Business called the 8MP ultrawide the “weakest link”, with limited dynamic range and colours that drift outside bright daylight. Night mode brightens scenes, but “you do lose some finer details”, which is typical of heavy multi-frame noise reduction on a mid-range phone.

  • In low light, switch to the 1x main camera. It has the bigger sensor and OIS.
  • Hold still until Night mode finishes. Brace your elbows or rest the phone on something.
  • Wipe the lenses. Fingerprints on the raised module cause haze and flare.
  • Update the Camera app and the system. Processing changes with firmware.
  • If the camera app crashes or shows a black screen, open Settings › Apps › Camera and clear its cache (cache, not data, first).

Blur on only one lens all the time, a rattle when you shake the phone, or a black feed from one camera after a restart and update all suggest a damaged module or OIS. That’s for a service centre.

Preloaded apps and recommendations

You get dozens of preloaded apps and games, suggestions inside folders, and notifications you never asked for. Outlook Business said the preinstalled apps “somewhat dampen the experience”, and described Funtouch OS as something buyers need to get used to.

  1. Long-press an unwanted app on the home screen and tap Uninstall. Plenty of partner apps remove completely.
  2. If one won’t uninstall, open Settings › Apps, pick it and tap Disable if that’s offered.
  3. Switch off recommendations in folders, and in the app store’s own settings turn off push notifications and recommended content.
  4. In Settings › Notifications, block apps you don’t use.
  5. After a reset, untick the optional app installs vivo offers during setup.

Stay with the built-in uninstall and disable options. Third-party tools that strip core system packages can break updates, banking apps and the camera. If an app you rely on starts failing safety checks, our page on the Play Protect certification check shows how to confirm the phone is still certified.

Battery, speakers and post-update bugs

Battery. Reviews generally praised the 6,500mAh battery, so short screen-on time usually has a cause you can find. After a big update like OriginOS 6, give it two or three days to re-index and re-optimise apps. Then check usage by app in Settings › Battery and restrict anything odd. Turn off the always-on display if you don’t need it, and lower brightness indoors. Weak mobile signal drains batteries fast, so use Wi-Fi calling where your carrier supports it. Very slow charging can be a bad cable rather than the battery, so try the original charger and cable, or a certified one. A battery that falls from 30% to 0% in minutes, a swollen back, or a phone that only works plugged in needs vivo service.

Speakers. Outlook Business said the volume is adequate and vocals and podcasts sound fine, but the sound isn’t very clear and the bass is weak. That’s how it’s tuned, not a fault. Brush the grilles with a soft dry brush, because lint cuts volume and clarity. Try the sound effects options under Settings › Sound (names vary by software version), and play a song you know in a different app. Crackling, distortion at low volume or one silent speaker is another matter: run the phone’s built-in diagnostics (our Android hidden diagnostic codes page explains each test) and book a repair if it fails.

After the update. Going from Funtouch OS 15 to OriginOS 6 is a bigger jump than a monthly patch. Some owners see lag, missing settings or crashing apps at first. Restart, update every app from the Play Store, and clear the cache of any app that misbehaves. If it carries on, use Reset settings (under the backup and reset options in Settings), which resets preferences without erasing your files. A full factory reset comes last, after a backup.

Is your V60 on the latest software?

Settings › System update checks for new software, and Settings › About phone shows the OS name and version you’re on. If an Indian unit still shows Funtouch OS long after the rollout, connect to Wi-Fi, charge above 50% and check again, because updates go out by region and batch. A phone that can’t get any updates at all may have been modified. You’ll want to know that before buying one used.

Checking a second-hand V60

With the V80 in shops, more V60s are up for sale. Before you pay:

  • Dial *#06# and compare the IMEI with the box and the SIM tray label.
  • Run a GSMA blacklist check to make sure it isn’t reported lost or stolen.
  • Confirm the exact model and variant with a manufacturer and model check. It helps spot imported or relabelled units.
  • Watch the seller remove their Google account and vivo account, so you don’t hit a lock after a reset.
  • Test every camera lens, both speakers, charging speed and the in-display fingerprint reader.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my vivo V60 get hot while gaming?

A Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in a slim body has little room to shed heat in long, demanding games, so it warms up and may suggest a break. Lower the graphics settings, don’t game while charging and take thick cases off.

Can I remove bloatware on the vivo V60?

Many preloaded apps uninstall with a long-press, and others can be disabled in Settings › Apps. Avoid third-party tools that remove system packages, as they can break updates and apps.

Does the vivo V60 get OriginOS 6?

In India vivo listed the V60 in the first wave of the OriginOS 6 (Android 16) rollout, which began in November 2025. Check Settings › System update for your region.

Why are vivo V60 ultrawide photos poor at night?

The 8MP ultrawide is weak outside daylight, according to reviewers. Use the 1x main camera in low light; it has a better sensor and OIS.

Is weak speaker bass on the vivo V60 a fault?

No, reviewers describe the speakers as loud enough but light on bass. Crackling, distortion or one silent speaker should be checked by vivo service.
