The iOS 27.2 release date has not been announced by Apple, but iOS 27.2 is already on its third developer beta and second public beta, and MacRumors expects the final version shortly after the iPhone Duo launches on 23 October — so late October or November 2026. Its headline features are Siri’s new AI in five more languages (French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish) and a redesigned Health app. Oddly, Apple started testing iOS 27.2 before iOS 27.1, and the only iPhone Apple has said will run iOS 27.1 is the iPhone Duo.

Below: the full beta timeline with build numbers, every iOS 27.2 feature found so far, which iPhones get it, what is going on with iOS 27.1, and how to join or leave the public beta safely. Accurate as of 9 October 2026; we will update this article when Apple releases iOS 27.1 and 27.2.

When is the iOS 27.2 release date?

Apple has not given one. Here is what is known:

  • Apple confirmed that Siri’s new languages would arrive in October.
  • Apple confirmed that the iPhone Duo “will be available with iOS 27.1” when it launches on 23 October.
  • MacRumors expects iOS 27.2 to follow shortly after the Duo launch, putting it in late October or November.

Apple has not published a date for iOS 27.1 on other iPhones either. Until it does, treat any exact day as a guess.

Apple released a second developer beta between beta 1 and beta 3; we have not listed its date or build because we could not verify them. macOS Golden Gate 27.2 is in beta alongside iOS 27.2.

Why does iOS 27.1 come first only on iPhone Duo?

Apple seeded iOS 27.2 betas before any iOS 27.1 beta appeared, and it has not explained why. The only public statement is that the iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1. The most likely reading is that 27.1 is a launch build for the foldable, while 27.2 is the next general update for everyone else — but that is our interpretation, not Apple’s. Whether other iPhones ever receive iOS 27.1, or jump straight to 27.2, has not been confirmed. For Duo dates, see our iPhone Duo pre-order guide.

iOS 27.2 features: everything new so far

These features are in the beta, according to MacRumors and 9to5Mac. Features in a beta can change or be pulled before release.

Siri AI in five new languages

The new AI-powered Siri, which launched with iOS 27 in September, adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. This is the most significant change in iOS 27.2 for anyone outside English-speaking markets, and it is the feature Apple said would arrive in October. Note that the new Siri needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence — per our earlier coverage, that means the iPhone 15 Pro or later.

Redesigned Health app

The Health app gets a new layout built around three tabs: Insights, Longevity and Browse. Reports suggest it may not be included in the first public release of iOS 27.2, so do not count on it on day one.

Apple TV profiles

The Apple TV app adds profiles, so different people in a household can keep their own viewing history and recommendations.

Anniversary reminders in Call Context

Call Context can now remind you of anniversaries when you are talking to someone.

More CarPlay Ultra themes

CarPlay Ultra gets additional themes.

Interface tweaks

Smaller design changes appear in Siri, Music, Podcasts and Clock.

macOS Golden Gate 27.2

macOS 27 “Golden Gate” was released on 14 September 2026 alongside iOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate 27.2 is now in beta in parallel with iOS 27.2. Apple has not published a separate feature list or release date for it; historically, Apple ships matching iOS and macOS point updates on the same day, so expect it in the same late-October-to-November window — but that is a pattern, not a promise. Remember that macOS 27 runs only on Apple silicon Macs, so Intel Macs will not receive Golden Gate 27.2 at all. Our iOS 27 and macOS 27 guide covers which Macs are supported.

What did iOS 27.0.1 fix — and do you still need it?

Until iOS 27.2 arrives, iOS 27.0.1 is the newest public update for most iPhones. Apple released it on 28 September 2026, and it fixed three problems:

  • an iPhone 18 Pro could restart unexpectedly when Face ID failed to authenticate;
  • a colour artifact could appear in some 2x photos taken at f/1.48 on the iPhone 18 Pro;
  • the screen could freeze when Notification Center and Control Center were opened together.

If you are on iOS 27.0, install iOS 27.0.1 now rather than waiting for 27.2. It also forms part of Apple’s prevention fix for the AT&T issue described below. Note that iOS 27.0.1 did not fix the green or pink vertical lines some iPhone 18 Pro owners report; TheStreet described those as a likely hardware fault affecting a subset of display panels, and there is no sign that iOS 27.2 addresses them. Our iPhone 18 Pro problems guide tracks them.

Which iPhones get iOS 27.2?

iOS 27 supports the iPhone 11 and later, and iOS 27.2 is an update to iOS 27, so it is expected to cover the same devices. See iOS 27 supported iPhones for the full list. Some features — the AI Siri in particular — need newer hardware. If your iPhone is still on iOS 26, Apple released iOS 26.7.1 on 28 September with a fix for an actively exploited CoreGraphics flaw; read our iOS 26.7.1 security update guide and install it if you are not moving to iOS 27.

iPhone 18 Pro Max on AT&T: the iOS 27.2 beta carrier update

On 2 October Apple confirmed an issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max users on AT&T, where the phone can lose service and show “SOS”. Apple released iOS 27.0.1 and a carrier settings update to prevent it, but phones that have already lost service need hardware replacement. On 8 October, 9to5Mac reported that AT&T carrier bundle 72.0.3 (up from 72.0.2) is rolling out to Pro Max owners running the iOS 27.2 beta. If you are affected, our iPhone 18 Pro Max SOS on AT&T fix explains what to do, and iOS 27 problems and fixes covers other known bugs.

Should I install the iOS 27.2 beta?

For most people, no. Betas can have bugs, drain the battery faster and break banking or work apps. Install it only if:

  • you need Siri’s AI in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Spanish now and can live with bugs;
  • you have a spare iPhone you can test on; or
  • you are a developer testing your apps.

Avoid it on your only phone if you rely on it for work, two-factor authentication or banking. And remember that the public release is only weeks away.

Buying a used iPhone during the beta season

Used iPhones sometimes arrive running beta software, which can mask problems or make Find My status harder to see in Settings. Check the phone independently before you pay: the free All-in-one basic info check confirms model and Find My status, a Model + Colour + Storage + FMI check confirms the exact configuration, and an Apple full GSX report shows warranty and repair history. Our used iPhone buying checklist covers the rest.

How to leave the iOS 27.2 beta

To stop receiving betas, go to Settings › General › Software Update › Beta Updates and choose Off. You will then move to the next public release once it is newer than the beta you are on — likely the final iOS 27.2. If you need to go back to an older public version immediately, you must erase the iPhone and restore it with a computer, then restore your pre-beta archived backup.

How to update to iOS 27.2 when it’s released

When the final version arrives, it will appear in Settings › General › Software Update. A few minutes of preparation avoids most update problems:

  1. Check your current version in Settings › General › About, so you know whether you are on iOS 26, iOS 27.0 or 27.0.1.
  2. Back up first to iCloud or a computer.
  3. Free up space. Point updates usually need several gigabytes of free storage to install.
  4. Charge to at least 50% or keep the phone plugged in during installation.
  5. Use Wi-Fi and avoid starting the update right before you need your phone.
  6. Wait a day or two if you rely on your iPhone for work. Apple sometimes ships a quick follow-up fix, as it did with iOS 27.0.1 two weeks after iOS 27.

If you only want security fixes and are staying on iOS 26, Settings › General › Software Update will also offer iOS 26.7.1 separately from the iOS 27 upgrade.

Verdict: iOS 27.2 is the update to watch

iOS 27.2 is shaping up as the first big update of the iOS 27 cycle: Siri’s AI in five new languages, a new Health app (possibly later), Apple TV profiles and smaller refinements. Apple has not announced a date, but late October or November is the expectation. iOS 27.1 is, for now, an iPhone Duo story. Unless you need the new Siri languages right now, wait for the public release. We will update this article when Apple ships it.
