In this article
  1. Signal drops and no 5G
  2. Battery draining faster than it did
  3. Too warm while charging or gaming
  4. Lag, frozen camera app, blurry lens
  5. Android 16 now, Android 17 promised
  6. Taking it to a Realme service centre
  7. Buying a used Realme 15 Pro

You’re standing in a 5G area, your friend’s phone shows 5G, and yours keeps flicking between 4G and nothing. Signal and data drops are near the top of the Realme 15 Pro problems people search for, more than a year after the phone became a big seller in India’s mid-range. The others are battery drain after updates, heat while charging or gaming, some lag, and the odd camera glitch.

Almost all of it is settings. Paths below are from Realme UI on Android 16.

Signal drops and no 5G

Calls cut off, mobile data stops, the bars vanish, or 5G never appears in a 5G area. The usual suspect is Realme’s Smart 5G feature, which flips between 5G and 4G to save battery and can cause short data drops where coverage is weak. A wrong network mode, an old SIM or a problem on the carrier’s side can do the same.

  1. Airplane mode on for 30 seconds, then off.
  2. Settings › Mobile network › SIM 1 (or SIM 2) › Preferred network type: pick the 5G option.
  3. Switch off Smart 5G for a day. If the drops stop, leave it off.
  4. Take the SIM out and reseat it, or try it in another phone. A SIM from the 3G era may need swapping for 5G.
  5. Compare the APN settings in the SIM menu with the ones your carrier publishes.
  6. Reset network settings: Settings › System settings › Back up and reset › Reset phone › Reset network settings. Saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings are wiped.

“No service” with every SIM you try, plus an IMEI that shows blank or different from the box when you dial *#06#, is a service centre job. Carrier-side causes are covered in unlocked phones with no service.

Mobile data fine, Wi-Fi keeps dropping

Then it’s usually the router or a power-saving setting, not the phone’s radio.

  • Forget the network in Settings › Wi-Fi, restart the router, join again.
  • In the network’s details, switch from a random MAC address to the device MAC as a test. Some routers block changing addresses.
  • Check battery saver isn’t limiting Wi-Fi in standby, and turn off any “Wi-Fi assistant” or auto-switch-to-mobile-data option while you test.
  • If the router uses one name for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, split them and connect to one band.

Battery draining faster than it did

Usually this follows a system update or a batch of new apps. After an update Android re-optimises apps for a few days. After that, the most common cause is social, messaging and shopping apps that keep running in the background.

  1. Give it two or three days after any update before you judge it.
  2. Open Settings › Battery and look for apps using more than you’d expect.
  3. In Settings › Battery › App battery management, turn off Allow background activity for apps that don’t need to run constantly.
  4. If you need more hours, lower the refresh rate and turn off Always-on display in Settings › Display & brightness.
  5. Update your apps. Older versions often run less efficiently on a new Android release.
  6. Extreme drain plus heat while idle? Back up and reset, as the last software step.

Too warm while charging or gaming

Charging, gaming, long camera sessions and 5G can all make it uncomfortably warm.

  • Take a thick case off when fast charging. It holds the heat in.
  • Don’t play games or record video on the charger.
  • Update apps. A badly optimised version can keep the processor busy.
  • Use the original Realme charger and cable, or a certified replacement.
  • Look in Settings › Battery for something running nonstop in the background.
  • Keep it out of direct sun and hot cars.

Warm is fine. Too hot to hold, a swelling battery or a shutdown from heat is not: stop charging and take it to a Realme service centre.

Lag, frozen camera app, blurry lens

For general stutter, restart first, since it clears memory and stuck processes. Keep 10 to 15% of storage free (Settings › About device › Storage), clear the cache of slow apps in Settings › Apps › App management › [app] › Storage usage › Clear cache, and turn off live wallpapers or extra animations you don’t need. Uninstall “cleaner” or “booster” apps. They usually make things worse.

Camera complaints tend to be the app freezing, a slow shutter in low light, or blurry shots from one lens.

  1. Update the system. Camera tuning often improves in updates.
  2. Clear the Camera app’s cache in App management.
  3. Wipe every lens with a microfibre cloth. Fingerprints cause most haze.
  4. Take off magnetic cases or mounts, which can upset optical stabilisation.
  5. Try a third-party camera app. One lens blurry in every app points to a faulty module.

Android 16 now, Android 17 promised

Many fixes arrive in monthly patches, so it helps to know where you stand. According to Android Update Tracker:

MilestoneDate
Released with Android 1524 July 2025
Android 16 (Realme UI 7.0) official22 December 2025
Android 17Promised, not yet out as of late October 2026
Android 18Promised, expected to be the last major update

Your version is under Settings › About device › Software version, and updates come from Settings › Software update. Realme ships in batches, so timing varies by region and unit. It usually runs beta or early-access programmes before a stable build, then releases in waves. When Android 17 arrives, back up, charge to at least 50%, and expect a few days of heavier battery use.

The successor Realme 16 Pro series launched in January 2026, so the 15 Pro is now a common used and discounted buy. If yours came that way, our Play Protect certification guide shows how to confirm it runs genuine, certified software.

Taking it to a Realme service centre

Go to an authorised centre if a problem survives a factory reset, the IMEI is missing, the battery swells, or one lens is faulty in every app. Back up first, bring the bill and box, and either remove your screen lock or write it down for the technician.

Buying a used Realme 15 Pro

  • Run a manufacturer and model check to make sure it’s a real Realme 15 Pro, not a lookalike or another variant.
  • Check the IMEI against the GSMA blacklist so you don’t end up with a lost or stolen phone.
  • Put your SIM in and look for 5G, then test charging, every camera and the speakers.
  • Have the seller sign out of their Google and Realme accounts and reset the phone while you watch.
Don’t guess — check it.Enter the IMEI or serial and get official records in seconds. Your first All-in-one check is free.
