Samsung announced the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra on 25 February 2026. Seven months on, they are the best-selling Android flagships — and increasingly common on the used market. Here is what is inside them and which version you actually have.
Snapdragon or Exynos? It depends on the model and region
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in every country.
- Galaxy S26 and S26+: Snapdragon in the US; Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 in most other regions.
The Exynos 2600 is Samsung’s first 2nm phone chip, built on its own SF2 process. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is a 3nm chip with Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU cores. In daily use both are very fast; the Snapdragon has a small edge in sustained gaming, and the Exynos in some efficiency tests.

Security: Knox Vault, Privacy Display and 7 years of updates
- Privacy Display (Ultra only): the 6.9-inch screen can be made unreadable from the side, and it can switch on automatically when you open banking apps or type a PIN — a real defence against shoulder-surfing.
- Knox Vault: a separate secure processor and memory that keep passwords, keys and biometrics away from the main system.
- Auto Blocker, Secure Folder and KEEP: block sideloaded malware, hide private apps and encrypt each app’s data separately.
- Post-quantum cryptography for verifying firmware and system software.
- Updates: 7 years of Android and security updates. The S26 launched with One UI 8.5 and is now getting One UI 9 (Android 17).
Android’s theft protections also apply: Theft Detection Lock, Identity Check and stricter factory-reset rules make a stolen S26 very hard to reuse — which is why buyers must check its status.
Buying a used Galaxy S26? Check these
- Samsung info check — model, sale country, warranty and lock status.
- GSMA blacklist — lost or stolen reports.
- Carrier and SIM-lock for US units.
- Make sure the seller has removed their Samsung and Google accounts, or FRP will lock you out after a reset.
More tips: Samsung IMEI check & lookup.
