8,000mAh in China. 6,800mAh in the EU’s energy-label database. That gap on the vivo X500 Pro Max is the detail to watch when the series launches in Europe on 27 October 2026, with sales from 5 November. The phones arrived in China in September, and anyone who has been reading Chinese spec sheets may be in for a surprise.
Below: what’s confirmed, what’s only listed or leaked, how the global models differ from the China versions, and what to check if you import one or buy one used.
The battery gap between China and Europe
91mobiles compared the China specifications with capacities listed in the EU’s EPREL database:
| Model | China battery | EU listing (EPREL) |
|---|---|---|
| vivo X500 | 7,500mAh | 5,300mAh |
| vivo X500 Pro | 6,510mAh | 6,500mAh |
| vivo X500 Pro Max | 8,000mAh | 6,800mAh |
Treat those EU numbers with some care. They come from regulatory listings, not vivo’s marketing, so they’re unofficial until launch. Regulatory databases also sometimes list rated rather than typical capacity, which makes numbers look slightly lower. But rated-versus-typical can’t explain a gap of about 1,200mAh on the Pro Max, or the much bigger one on the base model.
91mobiles suggests regional requirements may be behind it. That isn’t confirmed. vivo isn’t alone here either: Tech Advisor has warned that a global OnePlus 16 may also have a slightly smaller battery than the China model. The X500 Pro is the exception, with almost the same capacity in both regions.
If battery life is why you want one, compare the European Pro and Pro Max on launch day. On these listings, the gap between the two is just 300mAh.
Launch dates, pre-orders and the voucher
According to 91mobiles, citing vivo Austria’s official X500 microsite, the series launches in Europe on 27 October and goes on sale on 5 November. The microsite lets you register for a voucher on the X500 series. Nokiamob reported that pre-orders open on launch day and that people who register early get a bigger voucher than later ones.
| Event | Date | Source |
|---|---|---|
| China launch (X500, X500 Pro, X500 Pro Max) | 21 September 2026 | Nokiamob, 91mobiles |
| European launch and pre-orders | 27 October 2026 | vivo Austria microsite via 91mobiles |
| European retail availability | 5 November 2026 | vivo Austria microsite via 91mobiles |
| X500 Ultra (China) | March–April 2027 (reported, not confirmed by vivo) | Weibo tipsters via 91mobiles |
India and other markets are expected later. vivo hadn’t confirmed dates for them when we published.
Is the base X500 coming too?
China got three phones: the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. The two Pro models are certain for Europe. The base X500 is murkier. Nokiamob reported it was missing from European promotions and that only the Pro models were in EPREL at the time. 91mobiles later reported an EPREL figure for the base model as well. It has also passed SIRIM certification in Malaysia, which points to a launch in at least some Asian markets.
For now, assume the Pro and Pro Max are the main global models. Whether the base X500 is sold in Europe will only be clear on launch day.
Dimensity 9600 Pro, ZEISS cameras and the rest
The chip is the headline. The X500 Pro and Pro Max are the first phones announced with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro, a 2nm flagship chip that competes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family. Our rundown of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Dimensity 9600 phones compares the two.
The Pro models also get upgraded ZEISS optics, and 91mobiles highlights a 3.5x periscope telephoto in the lineup. China units run vivo’s OriginOS. Global models are expected to run vivo’s global software with Google services.
Full European specifications, charging speeds included, should come on 27 October. We’ll treat details as final only once vivo publishes them.
Price, and why there’s no number here yet
vivo hasn’t announced European prices. Leaks suggest the Pro Max will be expensive, but we couldn’t confirm the figures, so we won’t repeat them. Official pricing should arrive at the 27 October launch, and the vivo Austria registration voucher lowers the effective price for early buyers.
Phone prices across the industry have been climbing this year because of the memory shortage. That makes a cheaper China import tempting. Read the next section first.
Importing a China unit: the bigger battery isn’t free
A China-market X500 Pro Max gets you the 8,000mAh battery. It also brings real problems:
- Software. China units run OriginOS for China, with no Google Play services out of the box. Some may not be certified, which can break banking and payment apps. See the Play Protect certified check for how to tell.
- Network bands. China models may lack 4G and 5G bands your carrier uses, and VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling may not work.
- Warranty. A China unit bought abroad usually has no local vivo warranty. Repairs depend on the seller.
- Charging and accessories. Chargers and plugs differ by region, and global models may differ in battery and charging from China units.
Some sellers flash global software onto China units so they pass as European models. That can stop official updates and cause problems with Google certification.
This matters well beyond Europe. Many readers in the UK, Nigeria, the Middle East and Brazil buy flagships through importers or marketplaces rather than official stores, and with the X500 the same name can hide very different hardware. A listing for a “vivo X500 Pro Max 8,000mAh” is almost certainly a China unit. One that says “global version” may be the real thing, or a China model with different software. Over the next year, used X500s will turn up from every region too, so a buyer expecting the China battery could get a European model, and a buyer who needs Google services could get a China unit.
Checking a vivo X500 before you pay
Getting the IMEI and confirming the exact model avoids both of those surprises, and tells you whether the phone has been reported lost or stolen.
- Ask for the IMEI and run a manufacturer and model check to confirm the model code and region.
- If it’s used, run a GSMA blacklist check.
- Make sure it’s unlocked and works with your SIM using a carrier and SIM-lock check.
- On the phone, open Settings and look at the software name and version. Global software should have Google Play out of the box.
- Watch the seller sign out of their vivo and Google accounts before you hand over money.
