Rs 70,000. That’s how much more the new foldable costs than the one it replaces. The vivo X Fold 6 price in India is Rs 2,19,999 for its only configuration, 12GB/512GB, against Rs 1,49,999 for the X Fold5 at launch last year.
What follows is what the extra money buys, how it compares with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8, and what to check if you pick one up second-hand later.
Launch date, price and bank offers
vivo launched the X Fold 6 in India on 6 October 2026, alongside the vivo V80, and pre-bookings opened that day. According to GSMArena and the Free Press Journal, open sales began on 13 October through vivo’s India online store, Amazon, Flipkart and partner retail stores.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Variant | 12GB RAM + 512GB storage (only option) |
| Price | Rs 2,19,999 |
| Colours | Nebula Teal, Prism Black |
| Launch / pre-booking | 6 October 2026 |
| Sale date | 13 October 2026 |
| Launch offers (per GSMArena) | Up to Rs 26,400 instant cashback on selected bank cards, or 10% exchange bonus, or three months of Google AI Pro; up to 24 months no-cost EMI |
The offers are either/or and change often, so check the final figure at checkout. Gizmochina notes the bundled Google AI Pro subscription has to be claimed by 4 September 2027, and that the warranty doesn’t cover liquid damage, despite the water ratings further down.
Paying in instalments? Compare the no-cost EMI with the instant cashback carefully. On some cards you can’t have both, and processing fees or GST on interest can make “no-cost” EMI cost a little more than paying upfront. Where you buy matters for warranty too: keep the tax invoice from vivo’s store, Amazon or Flipkart, because a vivo service centre will ask for it if the hinge or inner screen ever needs work.
Why it costs 47% more
As Gizmochina points out, Rs 2,19,999 is roughly 47% above the X Fold5’s launch price. vivo hasn’t explained the increase. The new model does have a bigger battery, a 200MP main camera and a newer chip, and vivo claims about 10% lower power use under heavy multitasking than its predecessor.
Plenty of 2026 phones launched above their predecessors’ prices, as our look at phone price increases in 2026 shows. A jump this size still puts the X Fold 6 squarely in the same bracket as Samsung’s and Apple’s foldables.

The battery is the headline
6,900mAh in two cells. GSMArena notes the Indian model matches the global version, which is 100mAh smaller than the Chinese one. In vivo’s own tests, according to Gizmochina, Microsoft Teams calls ran 47% longer than on the X Fold5, at 7.43 hours. Maker figures are best-case, but the capacity alone is well above most foldables.
Screens and size
The 8.02-inch inner screen is one of the biggest on any book-style foldable. The 6.51-inch cover screen is wide enough to type on properly without opening the phone, which fixes a common complaint about narrow cover displays. Both are LTPO, so they can drop their refresh rate to save power. At 9.40mm folded and about 228g it isn’t the thinnest or lightest foldable, but that weight carries a much larger battery than most rivals. Open, it’s 4.40mm.
Chip and cameras
Inside is MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a 3nm flagship chip, rather than a Snapdragon. It’s in the same performance class as this year’s Android flagships. If you’d rather wait for the next generation, our guide to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Dimensity 9600 phones covers where chips are going. The ZEISS-tuned rear setup pairs the 200MP main sensor with a 50MP 3x periscope and a 50MP ultrawide. With a 20MP selfie camera on each screen, you can take video calls folded or open.
Against the Galaxy Z Fold8
| vivo X Fold 6 | Galaxy Z Fold8 | |
|---|---|---|
| Inner screen | 8.02-inch | 7.6-inch |
| Cover screen | 6.51-inch | 5.5-inch |
| Chip | Dimensity 9500 Super Edition | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy |
| Battery | 6,900mAh | 4,800mAh |
| Main camera | 200MP | 50MP |
| Dust/water rating | IP5X, IPX8, IPX9 | IP48 |
| Weight | About 228g | 201g |
On paper vivo takes battery, camera resolution, screen size and dust protection. The Fold8 is lighter and comes with Samsung’s wider service network and long software support. Its IP48 rating doesn’t cover fine dust, which iFixit showed can jam the hinge, while the X Fold 6’s IP5X gives some dust protection. The Fold8’s full specs and security features are in our Galaxy Z Fold8 guide.
Software support is the open question. In the launch materials covered by GSMArena and Gizmochina, vivo didn’t say how many Android upgrades the X Fold 6 gets. Samsung has a long record of multi-year support for its foldables. If you keep phones four years or more, ask vivo for its update commitment before you buy.
Buy, switch to Samsung, or wait?
- Buy it if battery life, a 200MP camera and the biggest screens matter most to you, and there’s a vivo service centre you trust nearby.
- Go for the Galaxy Z Fold8 if you want something lighter, wider service coverage and a proven update record.
- Wait if the Rs 70,000 jump is hard to swallow. Foldables often pick up extra bank and exchange offers during sales, and the X Fold5 may be cheaper while stock lasts.
X Fold5 owners probably don’t need to move yet. The phone is a year old, and the gains are mostly battery life, the 200MP main camera and the newer chip. If you do upgrade, back up, sign out of your vivo and Google accounts and factory reset the old phone before selling or trading it in, because the buyer will check it isn’t locked to you.
Checking a used or imported X Fold 6
At this price some buyers will look at imported Chinese units or second-hand phones. If you do:
- Remember that Chinese units run different software, may lack Google services out of the box, and usually aren’t covered by Indian warranty.
- Dial
*#06#and run a manufacturer and model check to confirm it’s the Indian model, then a GSMA blacklist check so you know it isn’t reported lost or stolen. - Fold and unfold it 10 to 20 times, then look for lines, dead pixels or a deepening crease on the inner screen.
- Ask for the original invoice. Warranty claims need it.
