The Apple October event 2026 is actually two launches. Apple confirmed a “Welcome home” event for Tuesday 13 October, widely expected to bring its first smart home hub, a new Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod mini. A second wave — a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, an M6 MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac and possibly an OLED iPad mini — is reportedly planned for “on or around” 27 October, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple has not confirmed the 27 October date.
This guide separates what Apple has confirmed from what has been reported and what is only rumoured, lays out the full October 2026 Apple calendar (including the iPhone Duo pre-orders), and helps you decide whether to buy now or wait. Everything here is accurate as of 9 October 2026, and we will update the article as Apple announces products.
When is the Apple October event 2026?
On 8 October Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted a short teaser on X: “Welcome home. October 13.” MacRumors reports that Apple is hosting an “Apple Experience” for press in Tribeca, New York, at 9:00 a.m. ET that day. The format may be a press release plus a video rather than a full keynote, and a public livestream has not been confirmed.
The same day, Gurman reported that Apple plans a separate Mac and iPad launch with an online video and press hands-on sessions around 27 October. Here is how the whole month looks:
| Date | What happens | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 12–15 Oct | iPhone Duo “Get Ready” pre-order setup (choose colour, storage, carrier, AppleCare+, payment) | Apple confirmed |
| Tue 13 Oct | “Welcome home” — Apple Experience in New York, 9:00 a.m. ET | Apple confirmed (date); products reported |
| Fri 16 Oct | iPhone Duo pre-orders open, 5 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. ET | Apple confirmed |
| Fri 23 Oct | iPhone Duo launches in the US, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia and more; ships with iOS 27.1 | Apple confirmed |
| ~27 Oct | Mac and iPad launch: touchscreen MacBook Pro, M6 MacBook Pro, M6 iMac, possibly OLED iPad mini | Reportedly (Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman) — not confirmed |
| Fri 30 Oct | iPhone Duo second wave in 28 more countries | Apple confirmed |

What is the Apple “Welcome home” event on October 13?
The tagline is the clearest hint Apple has given. Gurman, MacRumors and Macworld all expect the 13 October launch to focus on the home: a smart home hub, refreshed living-room hardware, and a push for Siri’s new AI features in the home. None of the products below has been confirmed by Apple yet.
Apple home hub (“HomePad”): what to expect
The headline product is reportedly a smart home hub, nicknamed “HomePad” in coverage (that is not a confirmed name). Reported details:
- Display: a roughly 6-inch square screen (reported).
- Camera and presence sensing: a camera for FaceTime and sensing that can recognise individual household members (reported).
- Siri first: the interface is said to be built around the new Siri AI that arrived with iOS 27 (reported).
- Two versions: a wall-mounted model and one that sits on a speaker base (rumoured).
- Software: possibly a new “homeOS” (rumoured).
- Price: around $350 (rumoured).
So, what is the Apple home hub release date? If it is announced on 13 October, an on-sale date later in the autumn would follow Apple’s usual pattern, but no shipping date has been reported. Treat any specific date you see online as a guess.
New Apple TV 2026
A new Apple TV 4K is reportedly part of the launch. Reports point to an A19 or A19 Pro chip, Apple’s N1 wireless chip and an upgraded Siri Remote. A rumour also suggests 8–12GB of RAM and a bigger push into gaming. The current Apple TV 4K is now several years old, so this is one of the most-requested updates.
HomePod mini 2026
The HomePod mini is reportedly getting a faster chip, the N1 wireless chip and new colours. No price change has been reported.
LG-made smart home accessories
Gurman has reported that Apple is working with LG on accessories built around its home platform: a video doorbell, a smart lock, a thermostat and indoor, outdoor and floodlight cameras. It is not clear whether all of them will be shown on 13 October or whether they will be sold under Apple’s brand.
Is there an Apple October 27 event?
Not officially. On 8 October Gurman reported that Apple will release new Macs and an iPad “on or around” 27 October with an online video and press hands-on sessions rather than a live keynote. Apple has not sent invitations or confirmed the date. Launch plans can move, so keep this one in the “reported” column until Apple speaks.
Touchscreen MacBook Pro release date
The biggest Mac news would be the first touchscreen MacBook Pro, sometimes nicknamed “MacBook Ultra” in coverage. What has been reported:
- Screen: 14-inch and 16-inch OLED touchscreens (reported).
- Chips: M5 Pro and M5 Max (reported by Gurman). Earlier reports said M6; those have been superseded.
- Design: thinner and lighter (reported), though a GSMArena relay suggests it may not be much thinner. A Dynamic Island in place of the notch is a rumour.
- Price: estimates of around $2,499 for the 14-inch and $2,999 for the 16-inch, roughly 20% above current models. These are estimates, not leaks of Apple pricing.
If the reported timing holds, the touchscreen MacBook Pro release date would fall in late October or shortly after. That is still unconfirmed.
M6 MacBook Pro — and why there is no M6 Pro or M6 Max
Alongside the OLED models, Gurman reports an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip in the same design as today. He also reports that Apple will skip M6 Pro and M6 Max entirely; the next high-end chips are M7 Pro and M7 Max in 2027. That explains why the touchscreen Pro models reportedly use M5 Pro and M5 Max. The M6 itself is already shipping: Apple’s M6 Mac mini arrived in late September 2026 as the first M6 Mac, according to 9to5Mac.
M6 iMac
The iMac is reportedly getting the M6 chip and new colours, with no redesign. If you were hoping for a larger iMac, nothing in current reporting suggests one this year.
OLED iPad mini release date
The iPad mini is the product most likely to slip. Reported and rumoured details:
- A20 Pro chip (rumour, based on a code leak).
- An OLED display of roughly 8.4–8.7 inches using single-stack OLED, likely 60Hz (rumoured).
- Better water resistance (reported by Gurman).
- Apple’s C1X modem and N1 wireless chip (rumoured).
Macworld notes it could slip to early 2027. For context, Apple raised the current iPad mini price from $499 to $599 in June 2026.
What is not expected in October
Current reporting does not expect a Vision Pro update, a new AirTag (AirTag 2 launched in January) or a new iPad Pro, which is reported for 2027. See our Apple release dates 2027 roadmap for those.
Should you buy now or wait for the October launches?
October is a month when buying the wrong day can cost you. Here is our product-by-product view, based only on what has been confirmed or reported.
iPad mini: wait if you can
The current iPad mini now costs $599 after June’s price rise. Paying that for a model that could be replaced with an OLED version within weeks is poor timing. If the OLED model slips to early 2027, discounts on the current one may still appear. If you need a small tablet now, a carefully checked used iPad mini is the lower-risk option.
MacBook Pro: wait unless you need it this month
If you want a touchscreen or OLED, waiting is obvious. If you want maximum performance, note that the reported touchscreen models use M5 Pro and M5 Max, and Gurman says M7 Pro and M7 Max follow in 2027 — so a high-end buyer who prefers mature technology could also consider a current or used M5-generation machine. Entry buyers should wait to see M6 MacBook Pro pricing before buying an M5 model.
iMac: wait two or three weeks
An M6 iMac is reportedly imminent. Unless your current Mac has failed, there is little reason to buy the existing iMac at full price now.
Apple TV and HomePod mini: wait until 13 October
The confirmed event is only days away. Even if you do not want the new models, older ones often drop in price once replacements arrive.
Mac users on Intel: plan ahead
macOS 27 “Golden Gate”, released 14 September 2026, runs only on Apple silicon. If you have an Intel Mac, the October launches — or a used Apple silicon Mac — are your route to current macOS. Our iOS 27, macOS 27 and MacBook Neo guide covers the full 2026 Mac line-up, including the $599 MacBook Neo.
Selling an old Mac or iPad before the new ones arrive
Resale prices for Macs and iPads typically soften once replacements are announced, so if you are upgrading, it can pay to sell first. Whether you are selling or buying used, Activation Lock is the biggest risk with Apple hardware. A Mac with Find My still switched on is tied to the previous owner’s Apple Account and cannot be legitimately unlocked by anyone else.
- Run a MacBook Find My On/Off check to confirm Activation Lock is off.
- Run a MacBook iCloud Clean/Lost check to see whether the Mac has been reported lost.
- Use a Part Number (MPN) check to confirm the exact configuration — chip, memory and storage — matches the listing.
- For iPads, the free All-in-one basic info check confirms model and Find My status.

How to follow the October 13 Apple event
Because Apple has not confirmed a livestream, the most reliable way to follow the launch is Apple’s Newsroom and Apple’s official website on the morning of 13 October. If Apple releases a video, it normally appears on its website and YouTube channel. Press hands-on coverage from New York should follow soon after 9:00 a.m. ET. The steps at the end of this article walk through it.
Verdict: what to expect from Apple in October 2026
The only firm Apple dates this month are 13 October for “Welcome home” and the iPhone Duo milestones on 16, 23 and 30 October. Everything else — the home hub specs, the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, the touchscreen MacBook Pro, the M6 iMac and the OLED iPad mini — is reported, not confirmed. If you are shopping for any of those categories, waiting a few weeks is the safest move. We will update this article after 13 October and again if the reported 27 October launch happens.
